Business Plans
A solid business plan is the foundation for all successful businesses. Alder Street Consulting has written business and marketing plans for agricultural producers from multiple sectors, including cattle ranchers, almond orchardists, egg farmers, tuna fishermen, and native elderberry growers.

Feasibility Studies
Before making a substantial investment it is worth taking the time to assess whether a business idea has a chance of succeeding. Alder Street Consulting has performed feasibility studies for a native plant nursery, a farm cooperative, and a habitat restoration business. We have also done research and prepared reports for government agencies assessing investments in a regional food hub and a prepared-foods rescue program.

Financial Analysis
Many farmers and ranchers have mastered their production methods long before they've fine-tuned their financial systems. Alder Street Consulting has built customized financial analysis tools for cattle and hog ranchers; hazelnut, almond, pear and apple orchardists; an egg farmer; and mixed-vegetable farmers. These tools help producers gain deeper insights into their farm finances, enabling them to make more informed decisions about their farms.

Value-Added Producer Grants
Each year USDA Rural Development offers millions of dollars to agricultural producers in the form of Value-Added Producer Grants (VAPG). VAPG planning grants can be used to write comprehensive business plans and perform feasibility studies. These documents support applications for VAPG working capital grants that can be used for the production and marketing of value-added products. Alder Street Consulting has extensive experience supporting producers in the grant-writing process and writing business plans and feasibility studies funded through VAPG.
